What We Do

We work with both traditionally published and “indie” authors who have self or independently published books and our mission is simple. It’s to discover new and talented authors and help them give their work the attention and awareness it deserves. We do this by providing professional and credible reviews which are respected by our readers. We review fiction across all genres, non – fiction with broad appeal and selected poetry.

How We Select Books For Review

All authors and publishing houses are welcome to submit their details and titles through our website. Unlike many review companies who charge a non-refundable admin fee of up to $20 for initial screening of books submitted, we do this free of charge and all books submitted to BookViral are subjected to a rigorous selection process. We do this to ensure that the author’s work meets certain minimum standards of quality and content and this invariably includes the reading of sample chapters available through Amazon.com and its ‘Look Inside’ feature (or other online booksellers). We never judge a book by its cover as the cover design is significantly enhanced by the funds an author has available to invest and they should never be penalised for not being able to compete on an element of their book which typically has no relevance to the quality of their writing. On average, 30% of the books submitted to us fail to pass the initial screen, but those authors that are successful can be assured of our commitment to providing the highest level of service and support so that they can continue focusing on what they do best. We never make public the titles of any books that were not selected for a BookViral review, or the names of their authors.

Our Review Criteria

Book reviews will forever remain subjective and a matter of opinion and this is why it’s important to apply a consistent criterion upon which the review process is based. Our reviewers review books submitted based upon a succinct but highly relevant number of factors. These include:-

• Plot
• Prose Style
• Dialogue
• Character Development

If you feel your book can meet our high standards, we encourage you to submit it, but we cannot make any guarantees that it will pass the initial screening. Please read our submit page in full before submitting a book’s details.
