SUMMARY: The deepest parts of the Internet hold the secrets of a world that will never be the same as Homeland Security Presidential Directive 51 overrides every freedom you believed you had when you woke up this morning. A handwritten letter, sent to the FBI unleashes a trail of deceit putting the armed forces of the United States in direct conflict with each other.

The BookViral Review: Sharply executed, intelligent and fast paced, The 51st Directive takes a harrowing central theme, and delivers a power packed conspiracy thriller. As protagonists FBI Agent Erica Brewer and Detective Sam Marco find themselves battling against the clock to stop events that will change American history forever. With proceedings evolving in tightly focused chapters that take us to the crux of Michael Agliolo’s narrative it’s certainly a high octane read.

Clever and inventive, another author might have left us adrift in a sea of coincidences, auspicious breaks, contrived leads and fudged plot twists, but here the pitch and momentum hold our focus to deliver pure entertainment as well as being a genre model for relentless storytelling. Agliolo has certainly done his homework and it’s to his credit that his plot stands in contrast to many of today’s thrillers which often seem simple-minded and lacking in genuine depth.  Yes, it may be pure fiction but it leaves you wondering if the government works for the people or do those that covet power use it for their own ends and cover their own tracks. Perhaps The 51st Directive is far closer to the truth than we’d like to accept!

As good as the genre gets, highly entertaining and unpredictable. The 51st Directive is certainly a must read for conspiracy and thriller fans alike and is recommended without reservatioWith

Too many thrillers are essentially machines to inject a shock into their readers every few minutes but Aguilar gives us a novel that is rich and atmospheric and a pleasure to read for those who like a story to unfold cleverly over a full arc, instead of coming in short mindless bursts.

Life and Death – living forever.

We are constantly and enduringly fascinated with fictional accounts of parallel existence, alternative realities and genetic engineering.
