The BookViral Review:
In ‘Desert Angels’ you will find a thought-provoking and inspiring book, whose content belies its length. Despite offering a mere 70 odd pages, author Lyman Ditson crams every paragraph with a challenging perspective, propelling the reader headfirst into deep thinking and self-reflection.
Each chapter introduces different and ever increasingly strange characters, who although seemingly imagined by the protagonist, become solid in an assumed reality. An Alice in Wonderland-style narrative, interspersed with humour and cleverly crafted ridiculousness, hints at figurative meaning, and questions whether we are, in fact, the master over our own destiny, or helpless pawns in some higher game.
As the title suggests, ‘Desert angels’, despite its simply arranged style and droll element, contains a spiritual theme, which runs throughout each standalone situation as the poetry which enhances each vignette prompts the reader to pause and take stock of their own frailties, motivations and beliefs.
Ditson’s poetry is written in free form, designed to direct the reader to the salient point of its message, with proficient use of line breaks and punctuation to intensify its theme. Some lovely imagery dresses the emotions conveyed beautifully.
‘Desert Angels’ is in its pure form a journey of self-reflection for the author but moves the reader to leave inattentive and transitory thoughts behind, to reflect on the understanding of life, and how mindful meditation can change both self-belief and our personal journey through time and space.
A variation from his first collection of eclectic and surprisingly constructed poetry, ‘Please Don’t ask’, Ditson’s latest offering commands conscious thoughtfulness and some careful consideration.
An intriguing read ‘Desert Angels’ is recommended for anyone looking for something that is thought provoking and a little bit different.

Albert Einstein said that. No doubt imagination, then, is a great thing to have if it yields such rich thinking in adulthood-But when does imagination start in the brain? And how important is reading for developing imagination young minds?
Few Crime Fiction authors genuinely excel at successfully misleading their readers and revealing an unlikely suspect as the real villain of the story and those that do can invariably be found at the very top of Whodunit Bestseller lists.
A good memoir, told well with a modicum of literary prowess, builds an emotional bridge to its author.
Pitching the rhetoric at just the right point between the believable and the unbelievable compels the reader to continue, and forces them to ponder on possible political realities of the future.
