The BookViral Review:

In a mind-bending investigation into the nature of reality, Tom Arant invites his readers to dive headlong into the proverbial rabbit hole with arguments that are intellectually rigorous and worryingly convincing!

We take for granted the idea that we journey through life, inhabiting a world that’s real, as the lead character in our own biopic but in taking The Matrix as his inspiration Arant has taken a subject most people would dismiss as pure science fiction and produced a brilliant and very readable investigation that posits “that we (and all life) are unknowingly imprisoned”.

Intent on extending our sense of the real, Arant’s central idea, that “there is more to reality than we thought”, is seductive as he tackles complex theory in a lively and informative manner. This buttressed by extensive research and interpretation as he lays out his radical theory of our invented reality with accessible and compelling writing.

Are we real? Are we living in a simulation? Researchers have explored this possibility in academia, and since the release of The Matrix in 1999 the idea regularly rides the waves of public consciousness but science is not and never has been about certainty. Arant is ever cognizant of this and whilst he presents Welcome to Our Real Matrix: One With No Escape as “a one-stop shopping guide to help you along a journey of understanding,” he suggests three options for reading it which is particularly helpful for those who don’t want to delve too heavily into biochemistry, abiogenesis and evolution.

Indeed, perhaps the only question Arant’s readers need to ask is whether they really want to know how deep the rabbit hole goes. But then, what do any of us have to lose but our illusions?

No matter how readers choose to read Arant’s book he has deftly woven the biological, philosophical and personal with a lucid clarity and coherence that is both highly thought-provoking and enjoyable to read. A five-star release from Arant, Welcome to Our Real Matrix: One With No Escape is unreservedly recommended.
