The BookViral Review:

There are so many wonderful Children’s Fantasy books to choose from that it’s often hard to sort the wheat from the chaff, but Jaclyn Tracey has created something truly original with Trying To Pull Off A Miracle. A wholly captivating read underpinned by a whimsical plot that finds Tracey once again bringing her distinctive narrative style to the Children’s Fantasy genre.

With the adorable Perri, Jingles and Sam (to name but a few) vividly rendered in our imaginations, Tracey hits the ground running with an exhilarating, magical adventure which exudes the traditional sense of wonderment we’ve come to expect from the genre’s best.

With her wish granted, Perri (who has certain traits that may or may not be Asperger’s!) finds herself dimension-hopping with the mysterious Jingles. A journey which requires a team of reindeer and ‘gaseous bubbles” to transport her to a marvelously magical place where she finds out she’s a princess from an ancient line of time travellers.

Accompanied by enchanting chapter illustrations from Michelle McIlroy, Tracey’s uproarious story builds from amusingly giggle-inducing to laugh-out-loud, as dynamics change and secrets are revealed, but not before a Gargoyle called Gideon and a Dragon called Darian play catch with her as they soar through the heavens! And that’s when the magic moves to yet another level!

With its delightful narrative detail, one cannot help but be reminded of other well-received children’s fantasies which have captured the imaginations of young and old alike. However, Tracey’s conceptions are firmly her own and combine to create a fantastical journey.

A wonderful beginning to a delightful new series with broad appeal Tracey has delivered a corker of a read and Trying To Pull Off A Miracle is highly recommended.

Life and Death – living forever.

We are constantly and enduringly fascinated with fictional accounts of parallel existence, alternative realities and genetic engineering. Films such as ‘The Fountain’ present immortality as attainable, whilst books such as ‘The Book Thief’ (Markus Zusak) explore the nature of death, in this case by death himself acting as narrator.
