The BookViral Review:

Government cover-ups and conspiracies run rampant in the UFO community, but it’s hard to deny some of the hard facts and it’s these that Hauge’s dark psychological thriller taps into to give us a wholly original read.

Unique in its narrative offering Who Sent Them is s part UFO exploration and part thriller with oodles of suspense and an equal amount of intrigue. And whilst the majority of UFO theme novels look outward to find answers to humanity’s questions Hauge brings it closer to home as he weaves extensive references to sightings with biblical text and an exploration of the mind’s ability to connect with other dimensions.

All over the world, there are fantastic ruins and improbable objects which cannot be explained by conventional theories of history, archaeology, and religion. It’s good to keep an open mind, and it’s good to be sceptical, but neither one of these attitudes can be an end in itself. And through the fractured mind of Professor Ken Manning and the shadowlike character of John, Hauge encourages us to question perceptions and conventional views whilst spinning a captivating story with plenty of twists and turns.

As Ken grapples with his demons and the truth about his father Charles is gradually revealed Hauge demands our attention as he weaves his plot through the reality and madness of his character’s lives, oftentimes coming together in surreal dream sequences which drive his plot forward as every intended piece of his otherworldly jigsaw falls into place. These give way to a series of narrative payoffs as he builds up expectations in order to upend them with timely and shocking reveals.

Unashamedly strange, enjoyable and undeniably thought provoking Who Sent Them will leave you thinking about the truth of UFO’s long after you have turned the last page and is certainly recommended. Be prepared to have your wits about you!

The Occult -why the fascination with dark fiction?

While the occult is a broad umbrella, hiding its many forms under its silky black folds, it’s concepts have endured through time, enjoying many a resurgence through the ages. The term ‘occultism’, is relatively new, not used in French or English literature, for instance, until the 19th Century, although the term ‘occult sciences’ was commonly used in the 16th Century to describe practices such as astrology, alchemy, mysticism, and natural magic.
