The BookViral Review:
K A Rupp’s ‘A short stack of sex and other stories’ takes its audience on a saucy journey of sexual encounters spanning history and reality, but remaining true to its premise, that of desire and sexual attraction.
Presented in an anecdotal style, Rupp’s collection of hot and steamy moments dives deeply and boldly straight into the action, with her audience barely able to take a breath between one intimate moment and another.
Offering a tantalising compilation of unexpected twists- vampires and werewolves among them- she mixes her saucy stories with some surprisingly touching and empathic moments, leading her readers to reflect on intimate details of their own lives, and the times when it doesn’t all go exactly to plan.
With more than a smattering of tongue-in-cheek trysts- most notably towards the end of ‘Changes’-Rudd crafts situation comedy into her work, leaving her reader chuckling along, as they no doubt recall their own cringe-worthy exploits.
Delving into often taboo storylines such as one-night stands with abandon, Rudd is not shy in the portrayal of her characters and their appetites. Nevertheless, despite the impulsivity and raunchiness- and it does get pretty raunchy-safe sex is consistent throughout.
Offering a fairytale, if the somewhat unrealistic premise that all men are hot, all women are beautiful, and everyone is as horny as hell, escapism is the name of the game, where most encounters culminate in success and the physical side of love is always rosy (unless of course, you are unlucky enough to meet a werewolf!)
For anyone who prefers the steamier side of literature it’s a must read!
In this beautifully written and insightful personal account, Sara Fashandi leads us through the childhood and the coming of age of her older brother, Mohsen.
Chock-a-block full of inventive and mind-bending ideas, ‘Divine Imperfection is original dystopian writing at its best, offering an eclectic mix of romance, scientific theory and futuristic horror.
I was recently introduced to sleep stories. Not that I have a problem sleeping; as an early riser with avid exercise habits I am definitely ready to grab 7 hours of blissful slumber by the end of the day.
A good memoir, told well with a modicum of literary prowess, builds an emotional bridge to its author.
