Not everyone belongs. Not everyone knows where they should be. The world pushes us but not always in the right direction. Sometimes we end up where we don’t want to go. Where we can’t trust what we see or believe what we feel

The BookViral Review:
A superb read that fully immerses the reader in the world of the Deluge, The Young is the debut release from Powter and it’s clear from the start he intends to be taken seriously as a Fantasy author of some note.
A mythical quest, told in a tone evocative of time-honoured storytelling, what Powter does particularly well is write the kind of book for which the term addictive reading was invented. Describing landscapes and setting moods that fully immerses the reader in his vividly imagined world.
Combining great characters with just the right amount of backstory he weaves action, suspense and plot together to create a story that is rich and satisfying. Unashamedly taking the well-worn theme of good-versus-evil and enviably adding a unique and sweeping touch of grandeur.
The Young might be Powter’s first foray into the realm of writing fantasy but he is far from a novice writer with his ability to create highly memorable heroic characters something that will earn him a lot of interest from genre fans. Tragically heroic characters like Sven who will come to make the ultimate sacrifice and Fren who must find the path of his conscience as he comes of age. Characters who overcome insurmountable odds and in doing so remind us just how enjoyable heroic fantasy can be.
Making for a highly entertaining read that is unpredictable without being overly complicated, The Young is sure to attract many enthusiastic followers and much interest in future novels from Powter. It is strongly recommended!

Humorous, touching and brimming with energy, One Hot Summer spins something completely original out of something familiar as Barker captures a perfectly framed snapshot of teenage angst, life, love and loss.
