Mehr varies her prose enormously without sacrificing poetic integrity. The tiny snippets in ‘ Cinquains’ act as a perfect foil to larger pieces, providing opportunities to either become immersed or to devour a small morsel when time is short. This variety makes for a weighty and richly layered fully absorbing read.
