The BookViral Review: From the Australian suburbs to Uganda, Journey to Children of Bwola Dances takes us on an extraordinarily powerful journey that reflects the best and worst in human nature whilst the enduring tragedy of Africa’s child soldiers proves a poignant reminder of the horrors of war.

With startling clarity, Amaya pens a remarkable narrative that weaves social and moral values with an intensity that rarely falters. It’s an enthralling story that requires dexterity of thought as converging paths come together. The events that lead up to Bob’s and Samantha’s abduction by The LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) and the circumstances which once again force young Olum to face the atrocities of his past. It’s a harrowing read at times but Amaya makes his points without the need for trite breast-beating whilst comfortably retaining that often elusive balance between tension and suspense. On this level alone Journey to Children of Bwola Dances proves a genuine page-turner whilst vividly drawn characters and well-nuanced dialogue captures the intricacies of local dialogue and adds a sense of legitimacy and urgency to Amaya’s words.

With a nail-biting and cracking denouement Journey to Children of Bwola Dances deserves to build an enthusiastic following for Amaya and much interest in future releases. It is strongly recommended.
