SUMMARY: The butchered body of a transvestite is found in a dumpster. Nothing out of the ordinary for NYPD, except the victim just so happens to be the brother of Detective Phee Freeman. At first the slaying looks like the random act of a vicious killer, but when it is discovered that there are similar ritualistic murders throughout the city, Phee and his partner Quincy Cavanaugh, along with FBI Agent Janet Maclin, have no choice but to join forces with Dr. Daria Zibik, a brilliant but deranged cult leader.

The BookViral Review: Uncompromising and utterly compelling, Laws Of Wrath is the eagerly awaited sequel to Laws Of Depravity by author Eriq La Salle. A wonderfully atmospheric read from the start, it gets better with every page as skilful twists and memorable characters combine to provide a powerful and malevolent tale of revenge. With blood all but oozing from its pages, La Salle ingeniously manages to penetrate the enigma of lives gone toxically wrong as his protagonists become intrinsically linked to events beyond their control. It’s a well observed telling with La Salle not only demonstrating a thorough knowledge of police work, but the cultural complexity that underpins his chosen settings and back story. This is most evident in the intricacies of his plot, a faultlessly woven tapestry that should leave readers in no doubt as to the calibre of the mind behind the pen, and the depth of characterisation with which he imbues his characters.

Taut, laconic and compulsively readable, Laws Of Wrath will certainly find favour with fans of this ever popular genre, whilst further building an enthusiastic following for La Salle’s refreshingly distinct style. Definitely deserving of a place on your bookshelf, it is recommended without reservation!
