A fun and light-hearted adventure for discerning younger readers, Mad Max & Sweet Sarah marks the third release in the Ellie Collins Greek Mythology Fantasy Series and once again she’s pulled it off rather well.
In her typically engaging prose, Collins has penned an imaginative plot with plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way. Her characters are well observed and are notably more endearing for their flaws which she captures in nicely nuanced ‘teenage speak’ and neatly-crafted personas.
Like her previous releases, Daisy, Bold & Beautiful and Mylee in the Mirror, the suspension of disbelief may well be a requirement but it never takes itself too seriously. With an upbeat narrative, a little tongue in cheek humour and plenty of forward momentum it’s a story about family and doing the right thing. As young Sarah finds herself crossing paths with the Greek god of war who seems hell-bent on bringing her brother Max into disrepute.
It’s certainly an enjoyable read that will readily appeal to younger readers with Mad Max & Sweet Sarah sure to connect with its target audience. Deserving of a place on your bookshelf it is highly recommended.
