The BookViral Review:

B. Lamb takes us deep into an intriguing, sometimes terrifying world of fantasy in her first full fiction novel, ‘Angels of Light’.

From the humble beginnings of ‘seeing’ into the spirit world, we follow protagonist Jessica into the blindingly fantastical fantasy world of biblical revelations and awe-inspiring angelic realms.

Jessica, a beautiful and successful brunette thirty-something, has a strange gift. That of seeing into the spirit world-or so she thinks. In reality, things are rather more complicated! During her incredible spiritual awakening, she learns that human beliefs are narrow sighted; that the human realm (Asiya), is but one amongst a plethora of others, and that the concepts of good and evil are more about the warmth of love and light versus the frostiness of negativity and darkness. With her increasing awareness, she discovers her path as the first female descendant of the Archangel Gabriel and ‘creator’ of a new realm.

Set in modern-day Southern Maryland, this novel is not steeped in the medieval fantasy of witches and wizards. Instead, P. D Lamb weaves modern-day spiritualistic beliefs and bible teachings into her prose, marrying these with the rather more materialistic pursuits of contemporary society. A fascinating if somewhat bumpy ride sees Jessica pulled in an emotional rollercoaster between the darkness and the light as she must use her emergent powers for the greater good.

Interweaving human emotion with the motivations of otherworldly beings, Lamb takes her readers with her through Jessica’s intensely passionate personal journey, as she falls for the devastatingly handsome Donovan, who turns out to be none other than her divine protector and spiritual twin.

If you love your fiction larger than life and twice as bright, this is the book for you!

The Occult -why the fascination with dark fiction?

While the occult is a broad umbrella, hiding its many forms under its silky black folds, it’s concepts have endured through time, enjoying many a resurgence through the ages. The term ‘occultism’, is relatively new, not used in French or English literature, for instance, until the 19th Century, although the term ‘occult sciences’ was commonly used in the 16th Century to describe practices such as astrology, alchemy, mysticism, and natural magic.
