The BookViral Review: When G S Gerry says his debut novel Meth Murder & Amazon is an experience unlike anything imaginable he’s not kidding!

Wholly original and darkly humorous it’s not one of those portrayals of men at a certain age looking for that missing ‘something’ with superfluous optimism, but a heady rollercoaster of a trip with Gerry cleverly orchestrating whiplash changes of mood and unexpected direction.

All Mr Grake wants to do is sell his family home. What could be simpler? But in Gerry’s warped imagination anything could happen and it does! From jelly bean disease (yes you read that right!) to double-dealing, Gerry’s rapid-fire prose and overlapping dialogue are reminiscent of Robin Williams on speed yet they never seem unnatural or forced.

The one-liners, causal asides, and occasional in-jokes may not have universal appeal but Gerry has bags of wit, style and a coarse creative charm of his own, that’s firmly rooted, albeit over the top, in credible characterization. A cast of eccentric and strangely likeable characters that start with ‘distinguished master of all villainy’ Mr. Derald Grake and include the likes of Sergeant Shredded, Colonel Crumpets and the Slashosaurus Max assassins, to name but a few of Gerry’s wacky creations as he uses absurdity to reel us in.

“The madness goes on, The ‘methacoaster’ picks up steam, ready to unleash another brutal assault on your senses. Loop, barrel roll, drop? Pick your poison.” And there’s certainly plenty to pick from!

So if you’re looking for a read that’s completely off the wall and guaranteed to make you laugh out loud Meth Murder & Amazon is highly recommended!

Happenstance, serendipity and luck dominate as the lives of characters crash against one another like pinballs in Tom Evans’ All Is Not Well. A novel that perfectly captures the unscripted events and coincidences of real life, where you can do your utmost best, and it’s never quite good enough.
