The BookViral Review:

A dark, high-octane Military SF thriller which also connects emotionally New World Order intertwines powerful ideas, highly visual settings and a brilliantly conceived plot.

Too many books in the genre simply seek to overwhelm with increasingly farfetched technology and outlandish characters, but here Slaughter and Brown not only serve up riveting reading, full of great sci-fi concepts, but their narrative also exerts a fascination that demands attention even as you want to turn away from its more chilling aspects.

To this end, they demonstrate a talent for juggling big ideas without sacrificing pace.. All brought to the fore with visually powerful prose and vivid characterization. Perhaps more importantly though they excel at interweaving multiple plot threads without relaxing narrative impetus, losing sight of the human element of their story or resorting to genre stereotypes.

Yes, Tristan Hart’s backstory is a dark one drenched in inconceivable loss which haunts him as he finds himself pitted against an implacable new world order but here Slaughter and Brown’s unique style and eye for character development is in full flow. Giving us an unrelenting no excuses science fiction thriller that is powerful in its revelatory immediacy and enthralling in its intrigue.

New World Order is a big novel in terms of its many rich characters and the size of its vision with a narrative that underpins a cleverly rendered science-fiction world. Mixed in with all of this are superb subplots played out by gritty and brilliantly realized characters masterfully woven together with Slaughter and Brown demonstrating a mastery of dialogue that is sadly lacking in all but the best of the SF genre.

A genuinely original and superbly envisaged Military SF thriller from Slaughter and Brown New World Order is a must-read for discerning fans of this ever-popular genre and is unreservedly recommended!
