The BookViral Review:

The prolific Robin Anderson scores once again with his latest foray into the glitz and glam of high society where money is most definitely not followed by manners! With all the double entendre and ‘asides’ we have come to love, ‘Leo, Lulu, Lobie and Mae-A Modern Day Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse’, is another giggle-worthy and spectacular tale, complete with petulantly posed plots and delicious disloyalty.

With larger-than-life characterisation, Anderson’s wickedly executed dialogue is second to none, as it catapults his protagonists in all their technicoloured glory onto the pages of yet another fabulous and fantastical adventure, whereas usual, everything goes that tiniest bit too far.

A childhood spat between a gaggle of spoilt and quite frankly deliciously dreadful juveniles rears its spiteful head when two of its instigators, Lulu and Mae, find fame. In no time at all, the old feud is reignited, with Leo and Lobie hard on its heels, and all hell breaks loose.

Complete with secreted bodies, severed body parts, and a woodchipper thrown in for good measure, Lulu’s tall tales merge with reality as things go from prankish to poisonous, with everyone watching their backs in terror. Anderson does not let up for a moment as one hilariously revolting episode follows another, all under the veneer of air kisses and feigned friendship.

A master at imagery, he builds such delightful but dastardly characters that one cannot help but feel a strange affiliation with them for bringing such mirth. Every detail of their gaudy and pretentious existence is painted exquisitely and with a flair which is Anderson’s alone.

Aside from the over-the-top nature of his well-executed plot, it has to be said that Anderson is quite simply an extremely talented writer. His written gymnastics are as flawless as an athlete, and his command of the English language is just as staggering. A top-class book, ‘Leo, Lulu, Lobie and Mae’ is unreservedly recommended and a Golden Quill read.
