The BookViral Review: Readers looking for a genuine nerve shredder need look no further than The Genesis 6 Project! A novel that makes it readers feel like active participants in its unfolding horror as Ferguson keeps them on the edge of their seats throughout.
The best novels work because readers feel fully invested in the fate of the characters and Ferguson’s are certainly memorable whilst the emphasis on Biblical myth keeps The Genesis 6 Project from becoming just another generic thriller.
To this end The Genesis 6 Project! isn’t one of those reads that falls back on trite and tired tropes or overreaches for the shock factor. Ferguson’s narrative is evenly paced, playing with character perspectives as tensions rise to meet the expectations of his readers.
More importantly, he’s careful to balance violent action and requisite shocks with scenes that set up the emotional stakes for his key characters. This being particularly true of exchanges between Tamir-Benob and Dr Ryan as she finds herself locked in a nightmare from which there seems little chance of escape. Tamir-Benob is a brutal, fighting machine that wastes no time getting down to business and Ryan is under the constant, inescapable threat of death with every scene insistently reaffirming Tamir-Benob’s hatred of humanity.
With momentum quick to pick up the intrigue comes thick and fast as we get to know the nefarious intentions of The Council Of Five whilst timely flashbacks reveal more of Tamir-Benob’s Nephilim origins and the biblical scale of the threat that’s yet to manifest itself!
Leaving us with a cliffhanger ending The Genesis 6 Project! Is an easy and pleasurable read that leaves us with the promise of more to come and is particularly recommended to fans of Biblical Myth and genetic Engineering fiction.
