The BookViral Review:
Environmental fiction is moving away from its roots in science fiction to take on a harder edge with chilling real-world resonance and this is certainly true of Treezz.
An eco-thriller that grabs your attention from the offset Graf has delivered a powerful and often disturbing plot underpinned by a thought-provoking narrative with tension and suspense leaving readers in no doubt as to the stakes. A narrative that blurs the lines between fact and fiction to articulate how we are changing our planet in potentially deadly and irreversible ways.
Action and intrigue are sure to keep the pages turning with Graf’s characters robust and imbued with real-world presence and his dialogue is always spot on as he judiciously avoids the prescriptive stereotypes that populate the pages of less imaginative novels.
At the centre of Graf’s novel are Jerimiah Simpson and Becca who find themselves in a deadly cat and mouse game that has them pitted against corporate greed and terrorists as they pursue their quest to bring free herbal medicine to the needy.
However, whilst Graf’s poignant emphasis on the preservation of our planet provides room for reflection it doesn’t weigh the plot down with excessive detail. But through an eclectic array of supporting characters, we are constantly reminded of the environmental ravages caused by corporate empire-building, scarcening resources, increasing inequality and the terrifying consequences of our choices.
Compulsive reading and refreshing original Treezz is certainly deserving of a place on your bookshelf and is strongly recommended.
