The BookViral Review:

A fast-moving adventure with much to recommend Bobb’s latest release in his Tales Told by a Tinker series The Dragon & The Book of Blessings pushes all the requisite buttons that fans of the Fantasy Genre expect while still managing to throw in a pleasant surprise or two.

Maybe it’s fantasy fatigue, but for far too many Fantasy releases the sense of wonder and magic becomes lost in predictable storylines but The Dragon & The Book of Blessings confidently rises above this.

Several shades darker in tone than the previous two releases in the Tales Told by a Tinker series it casts a transporting spell whilst exceeding the burden of expectation that all sequels in a series must bear.

Strong in terms of plotting and character development Bobb Jr. has crafted a well-articulated world with distinct settings and relatable, compelling characters devoted to a thrilling quest.

The framing device Bobb Jr. has adopted for his series with the unfolding of a story within a story is interesting and reminds the reader that storytelling is a never-ending act of imagination.

As with previous releases in his series, Bobb Jr. is careful to keep the focus on his key central characters of Swan, Nathan and Jason but again proves himself adept at creating a broader canvas of fleshed-out personalities and compelling narrative detail with the characters of Gunter, Azrador and Amara readily springing to mind as multiple plot threads slide into place.

On this level, there is something for readers of all ages. We get the playfulness and intrigue of reading about quirky magical artefacts and the familiarity of the continued quest to find them which combined with Bobb Jr.’s refreshingly distinctive narrative stamp creates an extremely enjoyable formula. We get exciting battle scenes, tragedy and pathos, wonderment and awe but throughout it all Bobb Jr. never allows the ‘human’ side of his characters to slip away which is perhaps most evident with the introduction of Swan’s new love interest Galad, A Golden Dragon, who shifts between his human and mythical form whilst characters like Lady Leila create a sense of connectivity to the world Bobb Jr. has meticulously created.

A superb release in Bobb’s Tales Told by a Tinker series The Dragon & The Book of Blessings is an unreservedly recommended 5-star read!

Authors writing about prejudice and racism in literature

Whilst the issues of prejudice and discrimination are multi-faceted and complicated beyond belief, a key moment for me was the day I picked up ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’. Harper Lee implicitly drilled down the relative unfairness of human existence into my 12-year-old brain, creating a sense of outrage that has stayed with me throughout my life.
