The BookViral Review:
Readers looking for a genuine nerve shredder need look no further than Tilbury’s Tales From the P.I.T Crew: Case of the Wayward Son! An entertainingly eccentric supernatural thriller that envelopes the reader in a blood curdling nightmare, it’s definitely one to be read with the lights on!
We know the requirements of the genre absolutely insist on a struggle between good and evil, with the best supernatural novels working because readers feel fully invested in the fate of their characters and this is something Tilbury achieves with consummate ease.
But Tales From the P.I.T, Crew isn’t one of those novels that falls back on trite and tired tropes or overreaches for the shock factor. Tilbury’s narrative is refined, playing with character perspectives to illuminate the terrifying nature of his chilling encounters as tensions rise to meet the expectations of his readers.
More importantly, he’s careful to balance the genre’s requisite shocks with scenes that set up the emotional stakes for his key characters. This being particularly true of his protagonist Dr Darrell Diamondback who is given a powerful backstory, told through flashbacks, as he finds himself and his new team under the constant, inescapable threat of death.
Tilbury has a gift for creating bizarre and eccentric characters, and a superb ear for dialogue and he has a dickens of a time melding Jaiden, Charlie and Ed (with more than a little help from Stravinsky!) into the formidable team they become. Each one contributing to Tilbury’s narrative spell as he creates a distinctive place for the imagination to linger whilst elevating Tales From the P.I.T Crew by sheer style into something wholly original.
A standout release for fans of Supernatural Fiction, tempered with perfectly pitched humour, Tales From the P.I.T Crew: Case of the Wayward Son proves a corker of a debut and is an unreservedly recommended five star read!

A notably original and assuredly paced novel, O’Joseph certainly knows how to build a visually intricate and gripping tale. From conception to execution his plot is wholly engaging as he confidently navigates multiple threads, proving it’s not impossible to give readers both a puzzle-box narrative and an exploration of what it means to be human in an alien world.
We said it so often it seems like we are on continuous replay but we make no apology for saying it again. The days when an author could simply write for a living are over.
