The BookViral Review:

Riotously witty, inventive and audacious “One Sour Grape” pulses with raunchy energy as Jaclyn Tracey puts the pedal to the metal to give us a bracing slice of Fantasy Romance Fiction.

In its opening pages, you might not be sure where it’s heading as we flit from six-year-old Ava to the home of the gods where Tracey’s razor-sharp barbs of wit are underpinned with exuberantly ragged dialogue as she revels in the power of wordplay.

A novel that embraces the twisted logic of screwball humour, in which everybody acts the craziest just when they’re trying to make the most sense, there’s nothing trite or formulaic about Tracey’s writing.

One Sour Grape isn’t just bitingly funny. It’s richly detailed, written by an author with a license for grandiosity who not only knows her material inside out but knows how to turn it into a good yarn. In short, Tracey’s novel is one of those rare reads that are actually worth remembering!

The main strength of One Sour Grape is in the incomparable characters of Dionysus and Ava. Dionysus is such a wonderfully vivid character, capable of holding the reader’s attention whilst delivering wholly sublime one-liners that it is nearly impossible to tire of him whilst the precocious young Ava proves the perfect foil to his glitzy bravado. Added to which are a host of powerful auxiliary characters that include the likes of Apollo, Pandora, Zeus, Thor and the delightful Tia, who together create a rich tapestry of players that are hard to forget.

But what makes One Sour Grape so special is the precision of Tracey’s writing, which manages to follow the formula of a Fantasy Romance whilst refreshingly sidestepping anything stale or clichéd. And she does this without losing sight of the grander adventure at hand!

To describe “One Sour Grape” as simply good would be derisory. It’s incredibly funny, wickedly clever, but also strangely touching. A Golden Quill read it is unreservedly recommended.
