The BookViral Review:

An exciting science fiction thriller that fires on all cylinders, the harrowing opening chapter from Humanity’s Gauntlet The Archons Rise sets the tone for a gripping read. Getting darker and murkier as it goes along, Sieteski twists his offbeat plot into so many clever and well-conceived turn of events that you actually have to pay attention – something very few thrillers seem to demand nowadays – to understand its progression and enjoy the multiple payoffs at the end.

Yes, the expected genre tropes are present but underpinned by Sieteski’s intriguing narrative, tension and suspense are quick to find an equitable balance that leaves the reader in no doubt about the stakes. Not just for Sieteski’s Archons as they discover the sobering truth about the mass death of world leaders but in the magnitude of the threat they find themselves facing.

Science fiction typically looks to the sky for extinction levels threats but in The Archons Rise Sieteski has looked to the darkest depths of our oceans and on a visceral level he taps into our innermost fears. Without getting lost in the minutiae, it evolves at an unforgiving pace, hurtling towards an exciting denouement which will leave reader’s eager for more.

Entertaining from start to finish Humanity’s Gauntlet The Archons Rise proves a strong debut for Sieteski and is certainly recommended.
