The BookViral Review:
Sword and sorcery fantasy is prone to getting bogged down in inertia and self-seriousness but Veilfall proves an electrifying and adrenalizing read from the very start!
Effectively three books in one Smitley has ladled oodles of magic, suspense and action into each chapter. Delivering a distinctively absorbing read that quickly envelops the reader in an alien environment where the world-building and system of magic feels wholly original as opposed to some kind of contrived genre chic.
With all the ingredients for an epic, Smitley carefully structures his narrative in Veilfall’s early chapters, so that readers are not overwhelmed with characters and alliances whilst his scenes are so vivid and textured you can easily immerse yourself in them.
Central to Veilfall is the relationship between Banzu Greenlief and Melora. Banzu being full of the exuberance of his youth, testing the limits of his power and quick to learn the scale of the responsibility that comes with it. With Smitley taking us through temporal twists and turns we turn the pages to dark magic, rousing swordplay, betrayal, love and loss. He knows that for his story to work, we have to believe the relationship between Banzu and Melora wholeheartedly. And we do.
With a superb cliffhanger ending and Melora’s fate uncertain Veilfall leaves us looking forward to the next exciting release in Smitley’s epic series. It is unreservedly recommended.

A read that radiates malevolence, Parr takes his readers on a harrowing journey, underpinned by an intriguing plot. Building his fictional town and characters with a meticulous eye for the nuances of camaraderie, this is much more than a trite horror fest.
Exquisitely written with a raw intensity, Muhammad Ali Bandial’s ‘I Dream of Rain’ is a powerful exploration of time and circumstance, and the drivers which form and mould personality and relationships.
Near Death Experience’s or NDEs as they are more commonly called are not a new phenomenon; they’ve been reported throughout history and yet few subjects create so much division.
A good memoir, told well with a modicum of literary prowess, builds an emotional bridge to its author.
The popularity of Crime Fiction might wax and wane but at the end of the day, it still remains one of the most popular genres.
From Monty python to Dorothy Parker, and even Shakespeare, dark humour and satire has entertained the best of us.
