The BookViral Review:

A guiltily pleasurable read, the charm of James’ Barwell Trilogy has stemmed from its vivid and unique characterizations and the final release in James’ trilogy will certainly meet the expectations of her readers.

Like Rude Awakening and Let’s Escape before it, Journey’s End again finds James able to move us, one small step at a time, into the hearts of her characters with a flawless narrative and oodles of homespun appeal.

As with Let’s Escape this is very much the story of Hilary and Tobiasz. It’s a beautiful story, filled with warmth and compassion that unfolds at a leisurely pace, with great attention to detail. In this respect, James never takes a wrong step on her way to a luminous final scene on a journey where we are invited to regard one of the most treasured joys of life, the moment when two people allow each other to see inside.

Whilst Hilary and Tobiasz are James’ principal characters her Barwell Trilogy is, in broader terms, a story about people, and on this level, it is engaging and charmingly handled with an absorbing and life-affirming quality to her narrative.

Her characters have been filled out beyond the underlying conventions of the genre with distinctive mannerisms. It’s a story of love, loss and regrets and it’s a credit to James that she manages to veer away from being too pat or too vague to bring her intense and distinctive characterizations to the fore. There’s a neon-style message in her narrative: Nothing is more important than friendship and here every relationship she introduces rings true. And when you turn the final page of Journey’s End, like treasured friends, you’ll be thinking how much you’re going to miss them!

A superb final instalment in James’ Barwell Trilogy  Journey’s End is a Golden Quill read and unreservedly recommended!
