Why should we care about these personal experiences, of the reminiscing of an individual with whom we have no obvious connection?

The BookViral Review:
With far too many releases in the genre falling short of expectations, there’s a strong argument for some kind of moratorium being declared on the indiscriminate use of the term “YA Fantasy Romance” but Billie Kowalewski gives us an inspired combination of seriousness and playfulness that reminds us what the genre is all about.
With an intriguing plot and vibrant characters, it’s clear from the start that Kowalewski knows how to weave an enchanting storyline and she is quick to hit her stride with a clever take on the idea of reincarnation and soul mates Taking the best elements of YA Romance and Paranormal Fiction the pace rarely lets up as Our Lives In Between delves into the enigma of Harmony’s life. A life in which her time on earth is part of a learning curriculum and brings a clever philosophical element to Kowalewski’s narrative, which not only makes it highly original but transcends the well-trodden line between good and evil as we alternate between worldly perspectives.
Despite the ever-popular pull of the genre, there are surprisingly few releases that create authentic relationships between protagonists, but with its strong cast of teens, Kowalewski has pitched Our Lives In Between just right with the growing relationship between Harmony and Kaleb touchingly rendered and feeling very real. And it’s the emotional connection that Kowalewski makes through them with her readers that makes Our Lives In Between a standout read. Both are well nuanced and sensitively conceptualised with a host of obstacles for them to overcome but Kowalewski keeps us guessing to the very end with a final cliffhanger that’s sure to have far-reaching implications for Harmony and Kaleb as she finds herself drawn into a covert mission for the Masters whilst the darkly disturbing presence of the Eradicators draw ever closer.
A highly original YA Fantasy Romance which sets a high bar for future releases in Kowalewski’s series Our Lives In Between is strongly recommended!

A powerful deeply affecting portrait of life in a bygone world, Lost Souls Recovered is so well written that we understand not just the racial inequalities of the time but equally as important the emotions too.
The bedrock for authenticity has to be robust research but the inclusion of fact doesn’t necessarily make for a compelling read.
