The BookViral Review:

An Urban Horror Fantasy that’s not for the faint-hearted, White spins his debut novel in engaging prose with a plot that’s suspenseful and imaginative in its execution whilst delivering plenty of unexpected twists and turns along the way.

It’s a riveting tale from start to finish and White’s nail-biting narrative whips along at a cracking pace, as he conjures a host of eclectic characters. A delightful mix that includes his young protagonist William and his Grandfather who harbours a disturbing past. A past that manifests in an age-old duel between good and evil and sets William on an unexpected quest which takes him from the peace of Amblefield to the murky depths of depravity.

Underpinned by an inventive plot (and some fascinating nerdy facts) White has a natural flair for intrigue that is well suited to this popular genre, with his vivid imagination adding dark tonal shifts to his edgy and immersive narrative. His settings are easy to imagine and there’s an economy to his prose which keeps them light yet quickly engages the reader as he weaves an ever-darkening web of conspiracy and nefarious events.

With William intent on getting Grampy’s coded message to his estranged aunt tightly focused scenes ratchet up the tension as he struggles to make sense of the maelstrom of deception and subterfuge he finds himself embroiled in. But where White really excels is in finding the right balance between mystery, menace and heightened suspense and fans of the genre will lap it up as he leads them towards a cracking denouement.

A quick read but never the less highly entertaining Hidden In Plain Sight- The Blackstones leaves us with the promise of more good things to come from Peter Edward White and is definitely recommended!
